Support for the European Schools Football Championship 2024

The Oberschule Herbert Tschäpe in Dahlewitz showed us once again that school can be so much more than just lessons, even in this day and age. A school football tournament was organised there back in 1998 and in 2006 the idea of a mini World Cup for schools was born. A committed and motivated team of teachers led by sports teacher Matthias Stiller was able to get not only the pupils at their own school interested in the event, but also many other schools from the region and throughout Germany.

Enthusiasm and great commitment for the football event

Schoepe Display has also been a small part of this fantastic school project since 2014, supporting our neighbouring school with standees, displays, graphic layouts and various colour copies and posters. It is always impressive to see how such a great practical learning project emerges from a small idea. Everyone is involved: The school becomes a hotel for the visiting teams with reception and room service. A catering team is responsible for catering. Other teams organise the opening ceremony, sell merchandise, allocate parking spaces for the guests, keep the sanitary facilities clean, provide sound, light and atmosphere in the hall and so on and so forth ...

"We very much hope that there will be many more events of this kind and are happy to support them."

This year, the European Schools' Football Championship was held from 12 to 14 March and was opened by the Minister for Education, Youth and Sport of the State of Brandenburg, Steffen Freiberg, as patron. Despite the train drivers' strike at Deutsche Bahn, the opening ceremony was once again a great event, with the school teams arriving for the ceremony and various dance groups providing a colourful backdrop. The fact that RBB was on site with a reporter and a small film team and repeatedly reported live from the European Championship arena was both a great honour and an additional organisational challenge.

The tangible passion, commitment, positive energy and team spirit once again made the tournament something very special.
